    VOCALISTS thank you very much!!!!
it's about time you wised up!! hahaha. but no, really, I don't think you should be so specific as to say "vocalists" only. when you think about, every instrument knows they're good when they sound like a different one, and every teacher uses other instruments as an example. tenor saxes want to sound like cellos and percussion teachers incessantly talk about violinists (ok, maybe i've been in the classical world for too long, but those are the only examples i can think of) except this, the best VOCALISTS sound like instrumentalists. it's a fact. the two most profound examples in my life are Lou Lanza and June Thomas, but I'm certain there are others. and it goes the other way too. how many times has your teacher told you "play it like you're singing it" ? sorry Tony, just had to throw in my 2 cents.

    2 things.

first you HAVE to check out shooby.com. that was sort of a joke!!!! wait till you hear him!

and you're right it goes both ways. however i just think vocalists really think about phrasing and melodies so i think they're important to check out. and shooby.com is the place to start!!! NOT!
